이란 무엇인가 A-Body-Shape Index (ABSI)?

▾

The A Body Shape Index (ABSI) is a valuable metric for business professionals, particularly those in the healthcare and wellness industries. It provides a more comprehensive understanding of an individual's body shape by taking into account waist circumference, height, and weight. This index is crucial for identifying potential health risks associated with central adiposity, such as cardiovascular disease and metabolic disorders. By utilizing the ABSI calculator, professionals can make informed decisions about health and wellness programs, insurance premiums, and employee benefits.

공식

▾

f(x)

ABSI = waist circumference / (BMI^(2/3) x height^(1/2)), where waist circumference and height are measured in metres and BMI = weight(kg) / height(m)^2.

기호	이름	단위	설명
ABSI	A Body Shape Index	—	A metric that adjusts waist circumference for height and BMI, providing a more comprehensive understanding of an individual's body shape.
BMI	Body Mass Index	—	A measure of body mass relative to height, used to categorize individuals as underweight, normal weight, overweight, or obese.

방법 A-Body-Shape Index (ABSI)

▾

1Measure your waist circumference at the standard location recommended by your clinician or measurement protocol.
2Enter your height and weight to calculate your BMI.
3Use the ABSI calculator to determine your ABSI value, taking into account your waist circumference, BMI, and height.
4Review the resulting ABSI value and compare it with age- and sex-specific norms or z-score interpretations.
5Use the ABSI value as one input alongside BMI, waist circumference, blood pressure, and other health markers to inform health and wellness decisions.

풀어진 예시

▾

예제 1Average-BMI adult with moderate waist size

주어진 값:Waist: 85 cm, BMI: 24, Height: 1.75 m

결과:ABSI about 0.077

Lower than many simplified web examples

This profile shows how ABSI can remain moderate even when BMI is normal, as long as waist circumference is not disproportionately high.

예제 2Executive with high-stress job and large waist circumference

주어진 값:Waist: 100 cm, BMI: 28, Height: 1.80 m

결과:ABSI about 0.092

Higher central adiposity signal

This example illustrates how ABSI can identify potential health risks associated with central adiposity, even when BMI is not severely elevated.

예제 3Athletic adult with low waist relative to size

주어진 값:Weight: 70 kg, Height: 1.70 m, Waist: 75 cm

결과:BMI about 24.2, ABSI about 0.074

Lower waist-related risk signal

This example demonstrates how ABSI can distinguish between individuals with similar BMIs but different body compositions.

예제 4Employee with sedentary job and high waist circumference

주어진 값:Waist: 95 cm, BMI: 30, Height: 1.65 m

결과:ABSI about 0.101

Higher central adiposity signal

This example highlights the importance of considering ABSI in conjunction with other health metrics, such as BMI and blood pressure, to identify potential health risks.

특수 경우

▾

Pregnancy and ABSI

ABSI may not be an accurate measure of health risk during pregnancy, as body composition and waist circumference can change significantly during this time. Alternative metrics, such as BMI and blood pressure, may be more suitable for assessing health risks in pregnant individuals.

Athletes and ABSI

ABSI may not be an accurate measure of health risk for athletes, as muscle mass and body composition can vary significantly from the general population. Alternative metrics, such as body fat percentage and blood pressure, may be more suitable for assessing health risks in athletes.

Sample ABSI Reference Scenarios

▾

Profile	BMI	Waist	ABSI
1.75 m, 73.5 kg	24.0	85 cm	0.077
1.80 m, 90 kg	27.8	100 cm	0.092
1.65 m, 60 kg	22.1	75 cm	0.074
1.70 m, 70 kg	24.2	80 cm	0.079

피해야 할 일반적인 실수

▾

!Failing to measure waist circumference at the correct anatomical location.
!Not accounting for variations in body composition, such as muscle mass or bone density.
!Relying solely on ABSI as a diagnostic tool, rather than considering it in conjunction with other health metrics.

💡

전문가 팁

When using the ABSI calculator, it's essential to ensure accurate measurement of waist circumference, as small errors can significantly impact the resulting ABSI value.
