A rice-to-water ratio calculator provides the correct water quantity for different types of rice (white, brown, basmati, jasmine, sushi) and cooking methods (stovetop, rice cooker, microwave, oven).

  1. 1Standard white rice (stovetop absorption): 1:1.5 to 1:2 (rice:water by volume)
  2. 2Brown rice: 1:2.5 — longer cooking, more water required
  3. 3Basmati: rinse first, then 1:1.5 · Sushi rice: 1:1.25
  4. 4Always bring to boil, reduce to very low simmer, cover and leave — never stir during cooking
