A rice-to-water ratio calculator provides the correct water quantity for different types of rice (white, brown, basmati, jasmine, sushi) and cooking methods (stovetop, rice cooker, microwave, oven).
Trinn-for-trinn guide
- 1Standard white rice (stovetop absorption): 1:1.5 to 1:2 (rice:water by volume)
- 2Brown rice: 1:2.5 — longer cooking, more water required
- 3Basmati: rinse first, then 1:1.5 · Sushi rice: 1:1.25
- 4Always bring to boil, reduce to very low simmer, cover and leave — never stir during cooking
