A nuclear binding energy calculator determines the energy needed to split a nucleus into its component protons and neutrons using the mass defect (Δm = mass of components − mass of nucleus) and E = Δmc². Iron-56 has the highest binding energy per nucleon and represents the most stable nuclear configuration.
