What is the difference between perimenopause and menopause?

Combined oestrogen-progestogen HRT is associated with a small increased risk, particularly after 5 years of use. Micronised progesterone (Utrogestan) has a lower risk signal than synthetic progestogens such as medroxyprogesterone acetate. What is premature ovarian insufficiency (POI)?
POI is defined as the cessation of ovarian function before the age of 40, occurring in approximately 1% of women.
