What does FENa <1% mean?
FENa <1% indicates that the kidneys are retaining more than 99% of filtered sodium, reflecting intact and activated tubular reabsorption. This occurs when there is reduced renal perfusion (pre-renal state) from any cause — hypovolaemia, congestive heart failure, cirrhosis, or sepsis-induced hypotension.
