The International Normalised Ratio (INR) is a standardised measure of the extrinsic coagulation pathway, calculated from the patient's prothrombin time (PT) relative to a normal control PT, both raised to the power of the International Sensitivity Index (ISI) of the thromboplastin reagent used. Why is INR used instead of just the prothrombin time?

Can DOACs replace warfarin?

How is warfarin managed peri-operatively?
